An entertainment corporation, ROC Ventures manages a collection of brands in the sports, entertainment, and real estate sectors. Included at the top of this list is The Hill Has Eyes. Founded in 2011and voted as Wisconsin’s best outdoor haunted attraction – spanning over 45 acres.

Position Objective

As part of this job, costumed actors will perform in an assigned area within the haunt; working to scare customers in different environments. This is a physical position that requires scaring our guests within the guidelines of our standard operating procedures -- ensuring smooth entry, occupancy and exit of all guests within your assigned haunt or area and support all efforts needed to operate haunts.

This position requires a committed person who would enjoy working in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This is a seasonal position with a target start date of mid-September and close immediately following the Halloween season.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other actors as part of an ensemble.
  • Portray and interpret roles, using speech, gestures, and body movements, to entertain, inform, or instruct radio, film, television, or live audiences.
  • Work closely with directors and other haunt staff to find the interpretation most suited to the role.
  • Perform humorous and serious interpretations of emotions, actions, and situations, using body movements, facial expressions, and gestures.
  • Study and rehearse roles from scripts to interpret, learn and memorize lines, stunts, and cues as directed.
  • Learn about characters in scripts and their relationships to each other to develop role interpretations.
  • Attend auditions and casting calls to audition for roles.
  • Work with other crew members responsible for lighting, costumes, make-up, and props.
  • Impersonate mannerisms and voices of others, contort face, and use other devices to amuse patrons.
  • Dress in costumes and makeup and perform acts/routines to entertain audiences.

  • Sociology and Anthropology – Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, cultures and their history and origins.
  • English Language – Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Fine Arts – Knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce, and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama, and sculpture.
  • Communications and Media – Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
